1997 Camry drivers side window works sometimes, often not.?
What is the most likely part that is failing, the master switch, motor or regulator? I checked the prices of all 3 parts at Toyota parts and the parts are expensive. Does the regulator just act as the linkage to lift & lower the window? I checked out the master control switch and the rocker switch for the drivers side window was worn out & had a lot of play in it. What is the sequence of the parts I should replace, master control switch, then motor?

If the motor works sometimes (both up and down) it's 99% likely that it's the switch. The switches often get rainwater in them and therefore corrode. I've gotten by with disassembling them and sanding up the contact points. However as years go by these contact points seem to get smaller and smaller (and harder to work on). While you have the door panel off, pull the wiring connections and try to clean them up and shoot with electric contact cleaner spray.

Imps are born and not made. Being an imp these days is a far more difficult thing than in the time prior to WWII. Those earlier prewar days are reported in this book. Todays imps require medical advise, appropriate dampening pills, and an entirely different form of discipline, perhaps even psychiatric treatment. Nothing seems so unwanted in modern times as a fullfledged imp of any age. Being an imp in a small western railroad town (Sparks, Nevada) in the twenties and thirties of the previous century offered a wide range of puckish opportunities and freedoms. Somehow it was expected that the young were to be adventurous and create various minor problems which the adult world of the time seemed able to take in stride. The one thing we didnt do, in my day, was report on our adventures to our parents. It was our sincere belief that the less they knew about the risks we took, the more serene their existence, and also ours. Of course, with the smalltown gossip network operating at fullbore, our parents knew much more than we thought they did. The inherent blessing was that, in most cases, they shrugged their shoulders, credited our activities to youth and only interfered when serious injury or mayhem might result.
