I wanted to install some grab handles on my truck, but the instructions show a tool that looks similar to a bolt cutter. What is the name of that tool and where do i find it? Or do i even need it?
it is a rivet nut installer. it installs a nut into the sheet metal that expands like a rivet when you squeeze the handle. they sell the tool at menards with all the other rivet guns. it comes as a kit with rivet nuts and the tool for $10. the package says "thread setting tool".

If you own a Jeep with a soft top that has accumulated mud and dirt from travelling, you'll want to clean it properly without causing damage.
Jeep owners have two options when considering how to go about cleaning their soft top. This includes manually cleaning with a cleaning rag or using an automatic sprayer. If you decide to clean the soft top yourself in order to avoid any damage that a power sprayer may induce, you can go to your local auto parts store and check into purchasing a cleaner designed for Jeep soft tops. This cleaner will be less aggressive than a hard top cleaner, in order to protect the coloring and material of the soft top, while still getting the job done.
If you opt to use a power sprayer, you may either use the one provided at self cleaning car wash stations, or a power sprayer at foud at home. It is important to find the happy medium in spraying power. Too hard may cause damage to the material and possibly create tears or marks. Too soft will not adequately cleanse your top. It is best to begin soft, and work your way into harder water pressure.
Once you've decided which method of cleaning to use you need to be sure to use warm water if at all possible to keep the soft top from reacting and becoming too tight. If cold water can't be avoided than it will work, but warm water is much more preferable. Once the soft top is clean be sure to plan for a long window of drying time in an open and sunlit area before adding the top back on and driving away. There is nothing worse than driving and having your soft top dripping on the inside because you didn't allow enough time to dry.
Do remember that your Jeep's soft top material is made a canvas material that can rip if the power cleanser is too strong, or if you scrub in too much in one area. Be aware of the existence of rocks and pebbles that could rip open the material during the cleansing process.
Whichever method you choose, make sure to be ultra careful during the cleaning, being sure to get all built on dirt off the top without doing any permanent damage.

I have a 2005 Wrangler "X". When I turn my ignition off the interior lights come on (normal) for about 10 seconds. My headlights work fine. Turn signals work fine. I can no longer turn my dome lights on by use of my dimmer switch, and I can no longer dim my instrument cluster. I checked my fuses behind the glove box, and they are fine. Can anyone help me as to what the problem is? Does this seem like a dimmer switch problem, and need to pull the steering wheel and replace the turn signal switch? Please help! I can't even locate a Chilton manual! P.S.....Shouldn't be a short because my dome lights come on after I turn off the ignition. If it was a short, they would have blown a fuse. I appreciate any help. (preferably by a Jeep Tech)
It's the stick that controls the dimmer switch. I had the same problem when my Jeep was new. It was fixed under warranty.
It's not the fuse. I'm positive it is the control stick.

hello can anyone tell me how easy or hard it is to replace my fuel line connetor. i have a 1993 grand jeep cherokee and i thought i had a petrol tank hole but nope. it changed the filter thanks to advice on a man on here, and that was the problem, but when i changed the fuel filter the platic clip that holds the fuel line connector to the filter just blows off and i'm now losing petrol hand over fist.
i need a new line. and i don't know if i should do it or just take to the mech shop?
is it easy to do?
is it expensive?

Those are special o'ring fittings that you can get from Jeep dealer. They are similar to A/C fittings that Ford uses on A/C. You must compress the plastic ears to unlock the fuel fittings and yes, they can break. On the Ford there is a special tool to do this. Get this fixed ASAP. Dangerous near the exhaust area to have fumes.
