Maxima Owner What are costs to replace a timing belt on Nissan Maxima 97?
I'm considering buying a Nissan maxima 97 with 90K miles. Owner has everything original on it except tires (including timing belt, battery, muffler etc.) and has maintained it well. I'm not a car guy, but wondering what expenses / or parts I would have to consider changing or replacing? I've heard the timing belt is a must cause it can ruin the engine. Is that true, can I drive it till it breaks and then replace it? How much does that cost, and any other things that I should consider? Thanks

ok dont listen to anybodys answer except mine cause these people are stupid and dont even know how to start there own car listen i had a 97 maxima is was a good car and prety fast and it has a timeing chain whitch dose have to be replaced at like 120 thousand miles or less sometimes people get lucky and they go 180 thousand miles and it dosent break but when it dose it causees motor damage and valve damage which mean ur car is buted so ur best bet is to spend extra money and take it to the dealer and for 800 bucks you get the timing chain done and all the other bels plus water pump whgich needs to get done any time timing belt is replaced anyway plus it will get done right

In my book, a rebellious princess, Esmeralda "Essie" Chilton, falls in love with the pastor's son, Liam Jenkins, and runs away from her kingdom and her coronation as the queen of the fictional land of Apostolos. Tractor Manual My transaxel has locked up on my model 250520 tractor. The manual says not to service it. It is 13 years old.?
When I jack the tractor up, the rear wheels will turn opposite of each other, but when the tractors is on a solid surface, the wheels will not turn. I noticed a greenish stain in the snow when I was clearing the yard. The main drive belt heated up and snapped. According to the manual, the transaxel is sealed and does not need serving ever, although there is a filter.
sounds like the pinion bearing my have gone out. you will need to see if you can get parts for this and if the cost of a rebuild is less than a new axle.

You actually should get two manuals. The engine has it's own manual and you can get it online. To do this go to the engine and find the make. Koehler, Briggs and straton etc. Then find the serial # or production date. Go to the manufacturer website and it should be their. As for the tractor, most are built by MTD. Using the above method will get it. You may also want to get a parts and shop manual from the same source. Bill
