Mercedes Chilton Help! Trouble starting my 1991 190e 4cyl. Mercedes?
For the last few days I have been having a hard time starting my car, I have to keep pumping the gas pedal hard while cranking it before it will finally start. It cranks but doesn't seem like it is getting any fuel. I used to be able to just turn the key and it would start without giving any gas at all. Once it is running, it doesn't stall out and it doesn't seem to be running roughly. It does run hot because it needs a new fan clutch, but I recently replaced the voltage regulator so I don't think that or the alternator or battery is the problem. Also, does anyone know where I can get a model specific repair manual, like a Chilton or something of the sort? I can't afford to pay a mechanic, so it would be great if I could just fix it myself. I got a "Mercedes Technical Companion" but it is not very helpful. Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated!
well pumping the gas while starting really does noting if I'm not mistaking it's fuel injected system and the computer the one spiting in the gas It could be (fuel filter,fuel pump) or you may be losing pressure somewhere but you can check out the auozone trouble shooting site
a great repair manual I like is Haynes repair Manual (it a complete tear down of your car and repair info) its what i use to fix my car its a great book. you can find these books at autozone or and advance auto parts or any auto store. good luck

Car Collision Estimator Should I get a repair estimate with insurance claim or without?
I recently had my car appraised over the damage that was done to my car from a collision. The Ins. company will mail me a check for the total cost of the reapir submitted from their estimator. I haven't had any estimates done from any repair shops. Would the estimate go up or down depending on whether it was an insurance claim or not? Seems like the cost would go up if it was an Ins. claim.
No you need to get estimate for your info so you know what the damage is. Also verify what they do for supplements ( that's any additional damage not on their original estimate ) If they send you the check make sure you do not cash it until the repairs are complete if you cash it they could refuse to pay for additional damage.

Mash-ups -- two songs stuck together that were never meant to be stuck together -- have their roots in the bedrooms and basements of computer-savvy music geeks who spend countless hours sticking Christina Aguilera's vocals over the Strokes' chugging backbeat or Missy Elliott's raps over George Michael, Joy Division, the Cure, and about a thousand others. MP3s were the medium of choice, white-label 12"s a distant second. It seemed like it was time to put a fork in the pranky genre when collections like The Best Bootlegs in the World Ever and Soulwax's As Heard on Radio Soulwax series exposed the mash-up to a wider audience, but then Danger Mouse came along. His headline-making Grey Album -- Jay-Z's Black Album vs. the Beatles' White Album -- inspired a ton of spirited imitations, and most likely the MTV-spawned, artists-involved Collision Course. The fact that the artists are involved with the project totally goes against the mash-up philosophy, but luckily Linkin Park -- who are revealed through the DVD as the main architects of the EP -- have that pop-loving prankster spirit and don't let their high-profile, well-funded life ruin it. The liner notes talk of a "once-in-a-lifetime performance" and "music history," but Collision Course is just plain old fun and all the better because of it. Jay-Z's "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" sits nicely on top of Linkin Park's "Lying from You" on the CD's studio version, but it's the fist-pumping live version on the DVD that really justifies Collision Course's existence. The Z-man -- who's "retired" from the rap game while being busier than ever -- has had his excellent "99 Problems" rocked up before, so the version here with Linkin Park's "Points of Authority" and "One Step Closer" isn't so much the revelation the liner-note hyperbole makes it out to be, but it's got an awesome beat and you can still dance to it. If the CD were released on its own, the collection wouldn't be as exciting. Linkin Park's genuine excitement about the project on the "behind the scenes" segment of the DVD is infectious, and watching the furious and fast teaming of "Jigga What/Faint" teeter on the edge of falling apart is gripping. Check the DVD first, and then throw the CD in the car for when you feel half-mack, half-punk. My Dads 1993 Volvo Turbo 940 TOTAL LOSS?
My dad is out of town, and my mom has been driving his car since her 2003 Chevy Malibu is no longer working (FYI: CHEVY CARS SUCK PERIOD) Okay ..shes driving to pick up my little sister from school when out of nowhere a 78 year old lady zooms through a red light striking my mom. SEVERE DAMAGE to the front. Okay obviously the car is not drivable, and was towed. She had two witnesses and police estimated at least $5,000 worth of damage. Two hours later an estimator told us the damage was about $4,300. Is this how much my dad will get for his car? Its so confusing.. I know its a 1993 vechile with 170,000 miles on it, but still Volvos are really strong cars and the parts cost ridiculous...The kelley blue book said $4,700.. Any suggestions?..How do the process go?...do they estimate repair cost too? and deductibles are for being who CAUSED the collision right? not the victims like my mom right?

What do you think about the extra fps that can be had through the use of an accessory battery pack?
Specifically with a Nikon D700 and MB-D10 battery grip? Shooting sports and wildlife. I know it couldn't hurt. What do you think?
It's in the literature that the the MB-D10 battery grip will improve frame rate from 6 to 8 fps on a D300 or a D700. Having said that, you've both provided good info.
I shoot sports and was at one time a staff photographer for an animal theme park. It is not about how fast the camera can shoot in the continuous mode .. it is all about shooting at the peak of action or anticipating the animals movement ... Sure there are times when being able to blast some continuous shots can be important, but in general not something one would want to depend upon to catch THE shot. If you like, try shooting at the continuous rate, but after while, you will find a good balance between the two ... timed single shots vs. burst shots.

Cost wise and Relibility wise
Money wise I would go to a reputable (they do exist) scrap yard, some of then will install the engine and give you a 90 day warranty. If I wanted to get a little more performance I would buy a crate engine from a place like Edlebrock and I would install it my self.
